The breakup of any marriage is not something that most people would be expecting when they get married but unfortunately times change and this then becomes a time when women leave their husband. Ask a couple who have stayed together and most wives will agree that there has certainly been some trying times over the years, but one way or another they have managed to stay married. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Who knows. Many years ago the social stigma of women leaving their husbands stopped many women from doing so, along with the difficulty of making ends meet financially.

In today's society the same stigma is not there regarding broken marriages and in fact a woman is encouraged to leave their husband if they are living in a situation that is abusive either physically or mentally. They are encouraged to leave for their own sake and also for the sake of the children.

SOCIAL REASONS

Although I have said 'social reasons' I include here social pressures that pull a couple apart. These differences can develop in a marriage quite unwittingly until one day a woman realizes that there is nothing in her marriage that is keeping her satisfied. Her husband may have been putting in long hours at work or he could be taking her for granted in the way he treats her or he may not even bother to come home at nights and on the weekends to share leisure time with her and the family. All of a sudden she may feel like she is living the life of a single woman but with a married woman's responsibilities. In these situations a couple might even separate quite amicably, realizing that they are still good friends but just not in love with each other anymore. Other pressures could come from family and/or friends where a partner has not been accepted into the family or into a group of friends. Also there are racial reasons why couples will leave each other for much the same reason as just mentioned, not being accepted into the family or group of friends.

FINANCIAL REASONS

Living under very tight financial constraints can be trying for anybody on a long term basis if there is no money for any sort of enjoyment and worse, if there is even no money to have the basics of a roof over your head and good food in your belly. Lack of money can be caused through work situations or lack of motivation to work, but sometimes a good income may be earned but is being spent on gambling, drinking or socializing. When women leave their husband, some thought should be given to the consequences of a breakup, before leaving the relationship. Of course in a violent situation this may not always be possible. Leaving a marriage is a big commitment and if a couple cannot work through their problems then separating is often the only solution to each party having a happy and fulfilling life.
